Disney+ ignited a frenzy among Latino fans today, revealing the official start of filming for a new season of the popular teen musical series Soy Luna, nearly eight years after the show's emotional 2018 finale.

The beloved series, similar to Violetta and Patito Feo, originally aired on Disney Channel Latin America and was filmed in Argentina. It follows the life of Luna Valente (played by Mexican actress and singer Karol Sevilla), a free-spirited teenager whose love for music and roller skating leads her into a world of self-discovery, romance, and high-energy competitions.

In a video posted across Disney+ and the cast's official accounts, Sevilla appears alongside co-stars Michael Ronda and Ruggero Pasquarelli to share the big news with fans. "This story isn't over yet," Sevilla teases. Ronda adds, "We're back and already filming the new season of Soy Luna," while Pasquarelli promises, "You can expect everything—it's going to be amazing."

Disney+ added to the excitement with a playful caption:
"The magic is back ✨, the skates too 🛼, and the dreams... they never left 🪽."

But the revival didn't come out of nowhere. In the comments, Ronda revealed the driving force behind Disney's decision: the fans.
"SURPRISE!!!! ❤️❤️🔥 You guys are the strongest fandom in the world. YOU pulled this off," he wrote.

The new season is set to premiere in 2026, marking a major comeback for the globally popular teen drama that inspired millions with its music, friendships, and iconic roller-skating routines.

For her part, Karol said she was very excited to return to the project that launched her to international fame.

"Your trusted blonde will give you the most anticipated news! After so many years, a project that changed my life is back! WE ARE BACK TO RECORD #SOYLUNA. MY DEAR LUNA, YOU'RE BACK! GIVING YOU LIFE ONCE AGAIN FILLS MY HEART WITH LOVE, BECAUSE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO TELL YOUR STORY!" she wrote.

"For being there from day one, thank you for giving us your love, today the childhood of many returns! Soy Luna is officially a reality! See you very soon on Disney+."

From Cancun to Buenos Aires

The story follows Luna Valente, a Mexican teenager passionate about skating and music. Her life takes a turn when her parents move from Cancún to Buenos Aires for work.

There, Luna discovers the Jam & Roller skating club, a world of glory, competition, music, and drama. But she also finds herself caught up in a love triangle between Matteo Ruggiero and Simón (Michael), along with the antagonist Ámbar (Valentina Zenere) , who complicates her path.

After 80 episodes, the last one aired on August 17, 2018, and features Luna celebrating her 18th birthday while singing "Soy Yo."
