Lorde performed her new Hunger Games single "Yellow Flicker Beat" live for the first time, sporting a flowing red gown for her Thursday night (October 2) gig in Berkeley, California.

In the footage below, as Consequence of Sound points out, Lorde looks almost angelic as she sings the intro to her new song, which will be included on the soundtrack she curated for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1. When the the beat drops, the singer becomes a woman possessed as she flails around the stage with a frantic crowd screaming in approval.

"It's my first offering from what i hope will be a soundtrack you love," the singer wrote on her Tumblr about the track, Rolling Stone reported. "It's my attempt at getting inside her head, katniss'. i hope you like it. We are almost at the end, the point where this soundtrack gets taken away from me and becomes something real," she added. "I'm reminded of this day last year, when Pure Heroine came out in this country. The feeling of something very solitary that I had worked on spinning around and around further away from me, becoming someone else's, everyone's."

The third installment in the Hunger Games franchise will be released November 21. The soundtrack is scheduled for a fall release, but no date has been announced yet.

"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance," Lorde said in a statement in July. "The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."
