Taylor Swift has been doing a ton of press to promote her upcoming release 1989, and in doing so she is giving fans a glimpse into her private thoughts on a variety of subjects. Instead of the blind-item lyrical assassination we have become accustomed to, Swift is more focused on the women in her life. In a recent interview with the Canadian magazine Fashion, the 24-year-old songstress claims her girlfriends have had the strongest influence on her in the last year. She is also hell-bent on finding comfort in her own skin and not caring about how others present themselves, saying people should not be threatened by "pretty and charismatic" women.

Swift says, "Celebrities surround themselves with people who don't know what they want and only have you to validate their lives — that's not interesting to me. You should not be threatened by women who are pretty and charismatic and good at what they do ..."

She has already discussed in detail how 1989 went in a pop-ish direction because she wanted to challenge herself, but that does not mean Swift is finished writing about the men who have crossed her.

In fact, doing so brings closure, as she explains: "I feel like writing a song is sort of the last piece of the puzzle of solving whatever mystery I'm trying to solve emotionally. Things that kind of torture and haunt me a little bit are usually put to rest when I figure out a way to say it in a song.

"There's a strange, eerie form of justice that happens when someone treats you terribly, you write a song about it, and that song ends up playing all over the world. You know at some point they've heard it in the grocery store, and they can't escape."

Some critics have felt that instead of ripping apart former lovers, Swift has been throwing shade in other ways during this press tour.
