Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight appeared in court yesterday (Oct. 5) for a hearing stemming from his most recent legal woes. The notorious gangster fought off tears as a judge explained why he couldn't drop the robbery charges.

Knight and comedian Katt Williams were arrested at the end of October for allegedly stealing a camera belonging to a member of the paparazzi. The judge was sympathetic to Knight's situation, but there wasn't much he could do since the District Attorney already filed charges, MTV News notes.

"I do know, from other cases that I've had, that dealing with the paparazzi - unfortunately these people don't act in a professional manner a lot of them," the judge explained to a choked-up Knight. "I think the people who are public figures expect that they're going to be photographed, but, in respect to these people, their family members, wives and kids, should be off limits."

The hearing was, ironically, captured by TMZ in a video below.

Knight faces 30 years to life in prison due to previous convictions. Williams could receive up to seven years.

It's been a difficult few months for the celebrity. In August, Knight was shot at a party hosted by Chris Brown. He recovered, but only to land in jail after this most recent incident. A few days ago, Knight passed out on his way to the medical ward and again while undergoing an X-ray.

Saturday Night Live spoofed Knight's ongoing legal troubles over the weekend.
