It looks like One Direction has found its new drummer — at least, that is what Simon Cowell thinks. The former American Idol judge and current The X Factor personality posted a video on Facebook of his 9-month-old son Eric playing along to the group's hit "Story of My Life."

"One Direction have just hired Eric as their new drummer," Cowell joked.

The infant does not drum as much as he just bounces and enjoys the group's single, but it is adorable anyway. Check it out below.

Cowell became a father in February after his partner, Lauren Silverman, gave birth to Eric. The TV judge shared his thoughts about fatherhood in an interview with Extra in March.

"I was born to be a dad," he said, Hello! magazine noted. "I actually said to Lauren beforehand, 'What if I like the dogs more than him?' and she said, 'You're gonna be absolutely fine,' and then literally within seconds of him being born, I got it!"

One Direction rose to fame after reaching the final stages of the British version of The X Factor. They signed with Cowell's Syco Records shortly thereafter.

"They just had it. They had this confidence. They were fun," Cowell told Rolling Stone about the first time he saw 1D perform. "They worked out the arrangements themselves. They were like a gang of friends, and kind of fearless as well."

In August, Cowell guessed that the group would not be around too much longer.

"Bands don't stay together forever. I think they will make at least two more albums together and they are in the middle of one right now," he said.
