Today (Aug. 19), Directions on Twitter celebrated the three-year anniversary of One Direction's breakthrough single "What Makes You Beautiful," but according to a new interview with Simon Cowell, the massive British boy band may not make it another three years. The X Factor UK judge, who founded and signed 1D to his label, guesses they only have two more albums in them.

In a new interview with Daily Star, Cowell said the end of One Direction may be sooner than fans may like. "Bands don't stay together forever. I think they will make at least two more albums together and they are in the middle of one right now," he said.

So far, One Direction has released an album a year since 2011... that means the boy band could only have two years left in its life!

Even if One Direction does end its run in the next couple of years, Cowell doesn't think it will be because of Harry Styles wanting to go solo.

"No, I don't think that is going to happen for a while. Eventually I am sure they all will," Cowell said about rumors of Styles' departure.

So, even if 1D ends, it seems like we could get five new pet projects from the members. And there's always the much-coveted reunion tour (just ask Backstreet Boys).

In the meanwhile, all is well with One Direction. The band is currently touring North America with 5 Seconds of Summer for the Where We Are Tour. 1D is set to play tonight (Aug. 19) in Nashville.
