R&B legend R. Kelly has shared a cool new track titled "Back Up," featuring a guest verse from fellow Chicago native Shawnna, which you can check out below. Other than the chorus hook, the song sees Kelly taking a break from singing to try his hand at rapping, and he's not bad, but the real draw of this track is the weird production, which lays a sinister, moaning beat underneath the verses.

It's not entirely clear where this song will ultimately end up, or even if it will end up on an album at all. Back in July, Kelly revealed that he was working on a house album, though he also told V Magazine back in March that he is planning a sequel to his album, Black Panties, titled White Panties. (Could White Panties perhaps be the house album?) Neither of these projects have yet been given release dates.

"I always follow what my spirit tells me to do," Kelly told V Magazine when discussing his upcoming work. "When I get into the studio I write from my heart. I try to write life and not songs. People live life and when you write life you're going to mess around and touch somebody's heart, and they'll relate to you and what you're singing about."

Black Panties was R. Kelly's most recent studio album, releasing back in Dec. 2013. The album was Kelly's 12th overall, and it spawned four singles: "My Story" featuring 2 Chainz, "Genius," "Cookie," and "Legs Shakin'" featuring Ludacris.

In addition to White Panties and his alleged house album, R. Kelly is also at work on a Christmas album titled 12 Nights of Christmas, which was announced Dec. 2013 and promised for this coming Christmas, though it's not clear if that's actually happening.
