The $2.2 million bail initially set for hip-hop mogul Suge Knight has been revoked, Billboard notes. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department considers the former Death Row Records CEO a flight risk after charging him for allegedly murdering a man in a hit-and-run incident last week. The department also cited his criminal past and the possibility of him being a flight risk as a deciding factor to eliminate the bail.

Knight was also slapped with an attempted murder charge today (Feb. 2) in connection with an incident that occurred Thursday (Jan. 29) in Compton. Police allege that Knight ran over two men following an altercation, killing one and injuring another. He will appear in court tomorrow.

Terry Carter, a friend of Knight's, died at the scene and actor Cle Sloan suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The Los Angeles Times recounted Knight's legal woes, which date back to 1996 when he was driving the car that contained Tupac Shakur before an unknown gunman murdered the beloved rapper. Knight went to prison in 1997 for violating parole. He was released in 2001, but returned to the joint two years later following an assault incident.

Knight caught a drug charge in 2008 and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor a year later. In August, he was shot six times at a party hosted by Chris Brown. He was arrested in October along with comedian Katt Williams for allegedly stealing a photographer's camera. His health has been deteriorating as well.

James Blatt, Knight's attorney, claims that his client was attacked prior to the incident.

"There is no question that 'Suge' Knight was physically assaulted by four men. They ran to his car. He opened his window on the driver's side. They physically punched him grabbed him and tried to get him out of the car at the same time they threatened to kill him," he said.
