Though the Oscars may be all about movies, the best films of the year would almost be nothing if not for their music. So, on Hollywood's biggest nights, some of music's biggest stars were on hand to perform the tracks nominated for Best Original Song. To kick off the night's performance lineup, Maroon 5 featuring Adam Levine were on hand to perform the Begin Again standout single "Lost Stars."

Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson introduced the band, who performed in a stripped down setting.

Wearing the same tuxedo he rocked on the red carpet, sans jacket, Levine stood in the spotlight, leading his Maroon 5 bandmates in the touching track about finding's one's way in the midst of darkness.

Though a few sound issues and vocal blips made the performance less than flawless, Levine and Maroon 5 sold the emotion of the song, with the frontman getting down on his knees, singing with unadulterated passion and tenderness.

And despite the flaws in the sound of "Lost Stars," Levine's wife Behati Prinsloo approved, giving the camera's a big ol' thumbs up after the performance.
