NBC's The Voice kicked off its eighth season last night, Feb. 23. Coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton reunited with Christina Aguilera, who took a short hiatus the past two seasons to give birth. Pharrell Williams was also on hand to fill in the fourth chair. Shelton has experienced a career boost since joining the cast in 2011. The country star talked to ABC News Radio about why he keeps coming back to the show.

"Some of the most exciting things that's happened for me in recent times is seeing artists that I've worked with on this show have some success, whether it's getting a record deal, whether it's winning an award," Shelton said. "Whatever it is, being nominated for awards -- those are the things that keep me coming back here as a coach on The Voice."

As Taste of Country noted, Shelton is the only coach who has appeared on all eight seasons of the show. He is also the coach with the most wins. He has raked in victories with Jermaine Paul (Season 2), Cassadee Pope (Season 3), Danielle Bradbery (Season 4) and Craig Wayne Boyd (Season 7).

"What really drives me now is to try to help someone else reach the level that they want to reach and have an opportunity for the world to hear their music and voice and about who they are as an artist," he added. "To have one little, tiny part in that for some of these artists, that's really exciting for me."

Shelton has not let the show get in the way of making music, though. He has put out four albums since 2011, which include Red River BlueCheers, It's ChristmasBased on a True Story ... and, most recently, Bringing Back the Sunshine.
