"I would do a duet with Lady Gaga," Britney Spears said in an online chat with her followers back in December, according to US Weekly. "I think that would be a lot of fun. I think she's very different and interesting and intricate, and I like her as an artist."
Gaga replied swiftly with the tweet: "Let's do this bitch, it's time."
The two haven't let their relationship fizzle since then. If anything, they seem to be getting closer. After Britney Spears Las Vegas show on February 1st, Gaga tweeted the above photograph with:
"Me and Brit Brit <3 #Applause4Britney @britneyspears we had so much fun at your show!"
She followed up with another tweet: "And Britney's dad gave us homeade BBQ, it was one of the best things I've ever eatin' in my LIFE."
A US Weekly insider reported that they had talked about collaborating backstage at this show. During the concert, Gaga threw Brit roses, and Brit blew a kiss back. Sounds like a real love story in the making.
So what about the music making? There had been rumors Gaga would appear on Spears' latest album, Britney Jean. This turned out to be untrue, obviously, but there was a kernel of truth to the speculation. It seems a collaboration is written in the stars. There's hope for fans that the duet will entail more than just a one-time performance, but laying down a track together. Now it's just a waiting game to see when and what.
