Tomorrow, June 21, is Father's Day, so go out and do something nice for the man who gave you life. Make him a steak, go to a game or enjoy some quality time together. Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill is moving quickly on his way to stardom and his personal life is moving on a very positive line as well with a strong relationship brewing with Nicki Minaj. He has a young son and for Father's Day, the "Monster" rapper penned a heart warming letter to his son in Time, sharing his goal to give him the strong father figure Mill never had and emphasizing how important their time is together.
"As a father, now I get to give my son the life I never had." Mill says, "I love my son with all my heart, and I would do anything for him. It's a crazy feeling knowing that I will help him become a great man."
Meek Mill's father was not around much for most of his childhood and the rapper does not want that to happen to his son. He acknowledges that he will be away a lot because of his career, but he wants to be there for his son no matter what because of his own childhood.
"I never had a strong male figure in my life. I didn't have that person to teach me things fathers teach their sons because my father was killed when I was young. It was just me, my mom, and my sister, so I had to be the man of the house. When I was younger, I remember being able to speak to my father and then in the blink of an eye, he was gone," Mill writes. "My mom played the role of both mom and dad. We had nothing growing up, so my mom worked any job she could find to provide for me and my sister. I love her so much for that. But as much as I appreciated everything my mother did for me, she couldn't fill the space that a father should hold in a child's life."
