Country fans worldwide got an unexpected surprise on the radio today--Carrie Underwood dropped a brand new, upbeat song titled "Smoke Break" off of her upcoming album Storyteller. The fresh track was penned by the country star along with collaborators Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano who have previously aided the singer on tracks like "Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Two Black Cadillacs," "Good Girl" and "Something in the Water."

"We were writing and kept taking breaks to go outside because we were getting a little stuck on a song we were already working on," Underwood responded to a fan who asked about the writing process via Facebook. "It was so beautiful outside that we had a hard time focusing, so we decided to write a song about taking breaks! 'Smoke Break' seemed like a great title, so we ran with it!"

Jay Joyce, known for working with country greats such as Eric Church and Little Big Town, produced "Smoke Break", marking the first time he's worked with the "Before He Cheats" singer. The track will be featured on the American Idol season 4 winner's impending fifth studio album, Storyteller, slated for release on October 23, as she explained in a video chat today. The 32-year-old artist calls the latest track "an anthem for every hard-working person," Rolling Stone reports.

The token CMA host will be credited for songwriting on six various tracks on her upcoming album. "I feel like a lot of the songs that I wrote and gravitated to ended up being more traditional and 'twangy' than anything I have ever done before. I just went with it!" she writes on Facebook. "I love the story telling aspect of Country music...it's one of the reasons I always wanted to be a part of it."
