Last month when MTV announced its nominees for the 2015 VMAs, Nicki Minaj jumped on Twitter and expressed her disappointment in her "Anaconda" music video getting snubbed for Video of the Year. Now, just days before the show is set to air, host Miley Cyrus responded to Minaj's tweets, calling her not too kind.

During an interview with the New York Times, Cyrus said that she did not agree with the way Minaj expressed her frustration about “Anaconda” not being nominated for Video Of The Year at the VMAs.

"If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement," Cyrus said. "But I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it.”

Back when the VMA nominations were announced, Minaj addressed her concern with the snub and noted favoritism of some sort towards "other" girls.

Minaj's social media comments were widely interpreted to mean that no women of color were nominated, to which Cyrus also responded.

"If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that,” Cyrus said. "But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: 'This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type'...What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love.”

Initially, it was Taylor Swift who responded to Minaj's tweets and things didn't go over so smoothly. Swift, who in nominated for Video Of The Year with "Bad Blood," responded defensively to the comments.

Upon its release, the "Anaconda" video broke the VEVO record for the most-watched clip in 24 hours. In its first day, "Anaconda" was watched 19.6 million times. Minaj beat the previous record set by Cyrus, who racked up 19.3 million views of her naked Terry Richardson directed music video for "Wrecking Ball" in September 2013. Back in May, it was revealed that Swift's "Bad Blood" video broke Minaj's previously set record.

"Anaconda" currently has over 498 million views.
