A new trailer for the upcoming final season of American Idol, which will premiere on Wednesday, January 6 on FOX, may hint at Kanye West becoming one of the new and final judges.

The trailer, which only repeats part of the clip from when West surprised judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban with an impromptu fake audition during open auditions in San Francisco last month, ends with Kanye, which is really the only hint that the rapper could be more involved in the show.

During the audition, West walks into the room, giving a shout-out to J. Lo, who asks, "What are you doing here?" The remainder of the trailer includes some of the series' highlights, including the time when 2004 contestant William Hung both impressed and hilariously entertained the show's creator Simon Cowell by singing Ricky Martin's classic hit, "She Bangs."

As NME points out, despite there being any hard evidence of West being a new judge, speculation comes from the time when it was reported that the rapper was in talks with the show, expressing his interest in participating in 2012. Due to the show's struggling ratings, Kanye West, who has also recently expressed his interest in becoming 2020's elected President of the United States, may be just what the show needs for its send-off.

After rumors continued to fester in regards to West's presidential run, for which wife Kim Kardashian wasn't even aware of, the artist spoke out. "I don't know what I'm gonna lose after this. It don't matter, though; it's not about me. It's about ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth," he said. "And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."
