50 Cent has at last shared his new mixtape The Kanan Tape after delaying it from its originally planned release on Thanksgiving Day. It comes with features from Lil Boosie, Young Buck, Post Malone and Sonny Digital. Production comes from a diverse cast of high-profile beatsmiths like London On Da Track, Alchemist, Colt 45, Sonny Digital and Illmind. The title is inspired by the character that 50 plays on his Starz Network TV show Power.

Coming in at just 7 tracks, 50 tries to give his fans a small group of quality tracks that are worth rinsing out repeatedly rather than a group of throwaways to try and tide them over to the next major project. The beats are as tough as his braggadocios rhythms. He makes sure to let the world that he still has plenty of paper left in the bank, despite what recent headlines would indicate and he is in fact the man who is able to get plenty of women.

A few days after Thanksgiving, 50 sat down with DJ Whoo Kid to explain why he delayed the tape, saying there were some last minute things that needed to be done, but it was going to come out in the beginning of December. Thanksgiving saw the release of mixtapes from the likes of Fabolous, ILoveMakonnen, Bankroll Fresh, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, which could have led to his decision to delay the tape.
