We exist in several different forms, and that idea plus gender is something Arcade Fire explores in its new Reflektor music video for "We Exist."

The six-minute music video, which runs just the length of the song, features The Amazing Spiderman 2 actor Andrew Garfield as a man exploring his sexual and gender identity in a podunk, seemingly small-minded town. With a bare chest, he stands in front of a mirror in a derelict house, shaving his hair down to a buzzcut.

Garfield's character then puts on a lacy black bra and tries on a variety of cropped blouses to go with some denim Daisy Duke shorts. He completes his transformation with some dusts of makeup, a bleach blonde wig and heels before going to a honky-tonk and watching the action of the night, not without a ton of stares.

He is then asked to dance with a man at the bar, but it's nothing but a ruse to beat up Garfield, who then goes to another world, dances out his rage and then meets with similarly minded and dressed men.

The quartet teach him how to dance and be fully comfortable in his own body, before Garfield goes into another world portal... an accepting Arcade Fire set at Coachella. Instead of his honky-tonk outfit, Garfield is changed into a floor length white gown and red mask makeup. He stares at the massive crowd and rocks out on stage with Win Butler and co., in a truly empowering moment.
