Kelly Clarkson is set to sing the national anthem at the Indianapolis 500 on May 27. She also sang the "Star-Spangled Banner" with Seal at the same event in 2011.
J. Douglas Boles, the president of IMS, made the announcement on Friday, May 11.
"We're thrilled to welcome Katy back to IMS on Race Day to sing the national anthem for hundreds of thousands of fans in the stands and millions of viewers around the world," said Boles. "She is an incredible live performer with a wonderful and instantly recognizable voice. We look forward to her rendition of the national anthem during one of the most poignant moments of this iconic global sporting spectacle."
Indianapolis 500 is an automobile race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway every year. More specifically, the race show takes places every Memorial Day weekend in late May.
Kelly Clarkson Will Return To 'The Voice'
Other than her upcoming gig at the Indianapolis 500, Clarkson made headlines after it had been confirmed that she will return to The Voice for season 15. She will be joined by her fellow American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson in the upcoming season.
The announcement came from Hudson herself, who is currently working as a judge on The Voice UK. The singer used Clarkson's phone to record her video message for their fans, and the "Since U Been Gone" singer uploaded the clip on her Twitter account.
