New York City rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has been released from jail two days after he reportedly got arrested for choking a fan.

Rapper 6ix9ine Released

Justice Ann Scherzer of Manhattan has granted the 22-year-old freedom by paying $150,000 in bail on Friday, July 13. His manager, William Cornish, and the Empire Bail Bonds immediately settled the fee and collect him from prison.

According to Page Six, the presiding judge previously retained her position to deny the rapper bail until Thursday when he admitted to skipping on a court date to attend a scheduled concert in Europe. Judge Scherzer argued, at the time, that what 6ix9ine did was not just a misdemeanor, but a crime.

However, circumstances changed when the authorities in Texas reached out to the prosecutors in Manhattan to request that the "Gummo" rapper be returned for his case. He is now waiting for prosecutors in Texas to give him the greenlight to surrender in his own accord or be forced to once again pay bail.

The controversial young rapper was arrested on Wednesday, July 12, at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York following his return from his concert in Europe. Apparently, he has an outstanding warrant for allegedly choking a teenage fan at the Galleria Mall in Texas back in January.

On Thursday, TMZ claims that 6ix9ine has been transferred to a high-security facility known as the Contagious Unit on Rikers Island. The source also detailed that the transfer was done for his own safety.

He reportedly did not have any contact with fellow inmates even during yard call.

6ix9ine Celebrates Freedom

Shortly after the news of his release broke out, 6ix9ine assured fans that he is well by posting on Instagram. On Friday morning, he posted a live video to celebrate his freedom.

"Why my city do me like that?" He asked from the backseat of his car. He also thanked his attorneys for getting him out of jail in one piece.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, is a controversial young artist. Aside from recent choking incident of a minor in a public setting, the rapper has previously been accused of sex with a 13-year-old which he took a video of and uploaded on social media.

In the video, Jezebel recalls, the girl can be seen in various states of undress and, at one point, performing oral sex. He pleaded guilty.

In May, he was also charged for assaulting an officer after he was taken to jail for parking in front of a fire hydrant and driving without a valid license.
