Drakeo the Ruler tragically died while attending the "Once Upon A Time in LA" music festival after a group of concertgoers attacked him and stabbed him in the neck.

The Los Angeles-based rapper Drakeo the Ruler was not able to perform in front of his fans in Exposition Park as he was horrifyingly got stabbed when a fight broke out backstage. According to the initial reports released by the Los Angeles Police Department, they received a call about a man about 30 years old who was stabbed around 8:40 p.m.

The department's official Twitter account said, "Media update: There has been an incident at the Once Upon A Time in LA festival at the Banc of California. The festival has concluded early. LAPD will be in the area assisting CHP w/ the investigation. Media staging is on the South Lawn at Bill Robertson south of Exposition."

Officer Orris of the LAPD later revealed that a source "with direct knowledge of the incident" confirmed that Drakeo the Ruler was the victim. The account added the rapper was attacked by a group of people at their music festival and was left gravely injured.

The medical responders immediately attended to him while rushing the hip-hop star to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he did not make it due to his injuries and died at the age of 28.

Colleagues, Fans Pay Tribute To Drakeo the Ruler; Want Justice For Rapper

Following the reports, the rapper's publicist Scott Jawson confirmed his death on Sunday in a statement to Rolling Stone. 

Organizers reportedly canceled the festival after the stabbing. The concert was supposed to feature artists like Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Ice Cube, among others.

LAPD spokesman Officer Luis Garcia told The Los Angeles Times that no arrests had been made yet as of Sunday. With that, Drakeo the Ruler's colleagues and fans pray for justice for the late rapper as they honor his life and career.

Snoop Dogg shared a screenshot of his note about the rapper, saying, "I'm saddened by the events that took place last night at the Once Upon a Time in LA festival. My condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Drakeo the Ruler."

The rap god added he was in his dressing room when the incident happened. In the end, he prayed for everyone's safety before asking people to love one another.

"Dolph, Slim 400, and Drakeo the Ruler were all killed in their hometowns... move away if you get it out the mud. Lotta mfs who cant stand to see you winnin," another wrote.
