As far as the officer can tell, it appears that the rapper was backed into the ditch not on purpose. Afterwards, a car pulled out, and several people got out of the vehicle. It's not clear what happened next - whether the people were intentionally hostile right from the start, or an argument ensued, but there "were talking for a little bit" before a gunshot can be heard. On Friday afternoon, his Facebook page said that LePreston Porter, 36, was still struggling for his life and had not yet been proclaimed dead.

In the wake of the murder, no arrests were made. On Saturday however, he succumbed to. his wounds. The shot was reportedly on his neck and it appears that he was left in the ditch to bleed out.

Sonny Digital and DJ Paul of the Three 6 Mafia were among the hip-hop musicians who paid tribute to the Yo Gotti protege on social media.

Snootie Wild - actual name LePreston Porter - was a rapper from Tennessee who was born on April 23, 1985.

With the release of "Yayo" in 2013, he immediately rose to fame in the hip-hop community.

Snoop joined Yo Gotti, another Memphis-born performer, in remixing the track and releasing it under the label Collective Music Group.

Yo Gotti toured with Snootie, and he also worked with other famous names like French Montana and Fabolous.

According to reports, the rapper is also a father of four children.

"Go Mode" was Snootie's first release after signing to Gotti's CMG label in 2013, followed by "Ain't No Stoppin' Me" in 2015.

In a 2016 interview with The Fader, Gotti discussed his protégé.

"My moments are like, when I see an artist like Snootie Wild at a wing shop and he tell me he just got out of prison, plays me a couple songs, and tells me how hard it is for him in the streets," he said. "So, I tell him I believe in the music he's creating and Ima try to change his life. And eight months later, his life changed. He performed at the BET Awards, got songs in the top 10 for radio spins in the country, performing on 106 & Park. In eight months! That's the shit that I enjoy."
