Taylor Swift received a new honor in an unusual manner.

According to EurekAlert, a millipede often found in the Appalachian Mountains was just nicknamed in honor of the "Lover" singer.

The Nannaria Swiftae is one of 17 new millipede species found in the region, and it is essential for decomposition and nutrient distribution in woodland habitats.

"Her music helped me get through the highs and lows of graduate school," says Virginia Tech entomologist Derek Hennen, "so naming a new millipede species after her is my way of expressing thanks."

According to reports, the millipede prefers to lie just below the soil surface, where it may feed on decaying leaves and plants without being disturbed.

According to the researchers, their secret presence is one of the reasons they were so difficult to examine.

A multi-year initiative was initiated across 17 states in the Eastern United States to collect and record unidentified specimens. Hennan and his co-scientists, Jackson Means and Paul Mare, scoured the forest floor, peering beneath rocks, logs, and leaves in search of the creepy crawlies.

Why Is Taylor Swift's Boyfriend Hiding Their Relationship?

In other Taylor Swift news, Joe Alwyn has been his longterm partner for the past five years.

Despite the fact that they have been together for a long time, the "Conversations with Friends" actor is insistent about keeping their relationship quiet.

During an interview with Elle UK, the British celebrity highlighted his inability to comprehend the public's interest in their relationship, as well as why society believes that discussing information about your relationship is normal.

"It's not really [because I] want to be guarded and private," Joe shrugged, "it's more of a reaction to something else."

"We live in an increasingly invasive culture... The more you give-and, to be honest, even if you don't-something will be stolen."

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift made the same point in August 2019 to The Guardian, explaining why she won't discuss their relationships in interviews.

"I've learned that if I do, people would believe it's up for debate, and our relationship isn't up for debate."

An insider told Entertainment Tonight in February that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are happy with their relationship and their decision to keep their personal lives separate.
