Ozzy Osbourne only returned from a life-changing operation a week ago, yet he's already promoting a new album.

The title track, "Patient Number 9," was released on Thursday, and the album's release date was set for September 9, 2022.

The video for the song, which incorporates artwork by Todd McFarlane, will be unveiled today.

Aside from Ozzy, he worked on the record with various other individuals, including Jeff Beck, who is featured on his most recent song.

Other guests on "Patient Number 9" include Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Eric Clapton, Zakk Wylde, Cha Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica's Roberto Trujillo, Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.

The album also includes a surprising posthumous cameo by Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Ozzy Osbourne previously said in April that he had finished a follow-up to his 2020 album "Ordinary Man," stating on his official website at the time that he had finished his next album and handed it to his record company, Epic Records.

This is his 13th studio album and his first since 2020.

According to Loudwire, the lyrics of "Patient Number 9" depict the predicament of a mental hospital patient who is probably being detained against their will as they wish to escape and go home.

Ozzy Osbourne disclosed last year that it was written alongside his wife, Sharon.

On his show "Ozzy's Boneyard," he explained, "'Patient Number 9' is one of the songs. It's one about Sharon and myself that we composed."

Ozzy Osbourne's recent release has elicited positive, negative, or indifferent comments from fans and listeners.

According to several Twitter users, Ozzy's new song "is quite nice," observed one reviewer, while another exclaimed, "WTF did they do to Ozzy's voice and why?! This is completely unlistenable."

Some have stated that while they have nothing against Jeff Beck, they would like to hear Zakk Wylde lay down big riffs for the King of Darkness.

"Jeff's solo is the highlight," a third individual observed, "but the rest of the album better pick it up from here."
