The mystery surrounding the spitting controversy between Harry Styles and Chris Pine reached a whole new level.

Although "Don't Worry Darling" cast members already had enough controversies before the Venice Film Festival, the bickering continued during its premiere - thanks to rumors about Styles and Pine.

Since Monday, a clip of the two stars at the film's premiere has been going viral. The video in question captures the 28-year-old "As It Was" singer as he seemingly spits at the actor at the exact moment Pine stops clapping.

The 42-year-old actor then smiles before shaking his head.

With that, the public insisted that the former One Direction member spat at Pine.

Instead of taking it seriously, Styles joked about it on Wednesday night, telling his attendees that he only went to Venice to do it to the actor.

"This is our tenth show at Madison Square Garden. It's wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back in New York. I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine. But fret not, we're back!" he said, as quoted by Variety.

Before sharing the joke, Pine - through his representatives - called the claim "ridiculous" as it was only a blatant attempt to create drama involving them.

The representative sent a statement to PEOPLE, saying that the video was fabricated. It revealed that Styles looked like he spat on Pine only due to online illusion.

Styles also made the internet go crazy by kissing Nick Kroll during the film's five-minute standing ovation despite Wilde's presence.

"Don't Worry Darling" Issues

The rumor about Styles and Pines was the latest drama surrounding the film.

Before the video came out, the film's director Olivia Wilde and the lead actress, Florence Pugh, reportedly got involved in a fight. It all began when Wilde ignited a romantic relationship with Styles during the production.

The buzz about the fight surfaced when Pugh arrived late in Venice. She was also spotted not interacting with Wilde during the red carpet and premiere.

Wilde was also bombarded with accusations that she caused Shia LaBeouf's exit from the film. However, she clarified in her Variety cover story that her style did not match what the actor has since he reportedly has his own process which was not conducive to the ethos she planned for her film.
