A new development in the probe into Aaron Carter's death seemingly determined the singer's cause of death.
Carter's housekeeper found him unresponsive inside his bathtub in his Lancaster, California, home on Saturday. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesperson did not reveal his cause of death but confirmed that the deputies indeed found a dead person inside the residence.
The homicide investigators, on the other hand, started the probe after a report of a "suspicious death."
Days after the "I'm All About You" hitmaker's passing, law enforcement sources revealed to a news outlet that the investigators found evidence at the scene that might determine Aaron Carter's cause of death.
Aaron Carter's Cause of Death To Be Determined
In a statement to a news outlet, the insiders said the cops found multiple cans of compressed air in his bathroom and bedroom. Prescription pills were also retrieved from the scene.
As of press time, it remains unknown whether any of these led him to drown, but police are now looking into the evidence as potential players in Carter's death.
Nick Carter's brother was still seen alive around 2:00 AM on Friday. At the same time, his housekeeper answered the knock at the door and saw cops who came to do a welfare check.
One insider said Carter asked them to leave and told the housekeeper not to bother him.
After that incident, the live-in housekeeper did not see him again all day on Friday and Saturday morning. She then checked on him to ask whether he wanted coffee. However, she found his dog inside the bedroom looking anxious, so she opened the bathroom door and found the singer's body in the tub.
Law enforcement sources assume Carter was dead for a long time and that his body had been there for quite some time since there was already a smell of decomposition. The water also changed its color already.

The tub's jets, meanwhile, were still running.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office will determine Aaron Carter's exact manner and cause of death once the toxicology results are released.
Amid waiting, his fiancé, Melanie Martin, asked the public to give the bereaved family some privacy as they deal with the tragic days of their lives after Carter's death.
"Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated," she went on.
