Selena Gomez has been entertaining fans with her TikTok videos where she lipsyncs comedy skits and occasionally collaborates with celebrities like Taylor Swift. However, she recently announced in a live stream that she's going to take a break from social media again.

Taking to her TikTok live, the "Only Murders in the Building" actress shared a shocking announcement to her followers, saying she'll be "taking a second" and leave social media platforms completely.

The reason behind her hiatus is because of her age, saying "it's silly" and she's too old to be interacting online.

The pop star didn't give further details about why she's leaving social media platforms but the outlet noted that Gomez's big move comes after a TikTok drama involving her and Hailey Bieber.

In other reports, the pop star defended her best friend Taylor Swift after an old video of the Rhode Beauty founder made rounds online where she seemingly shaded the "Midnight Rain" hitmaker.

Selena Gomez Social Media Break: Not The First Time She's Stepping Away From the Online World

This is not the first time Selena Gomez would take a break from social media as she already did it in the past for over 4 and a half years.

In an interview with Vanity Fair Magazine, the singer explained how she stepped away from the online world except from TikTok, saying the world was her "high school" as she never got the chance to attend schools because of her career that skyrocketed at a young age.

"I went through a hard time in a breakup and I didn't want to see any of the [feedback] - not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else," she said.

The musician further explained that haters tend to get very detailed when it comes to writing negative things about her as they could write paragraphs that are "so specific and mean" and it would make her cry and be anxious constantly.
