The clock strikes midnight and the production of "Bad Cinderella" has to pack up and take its final bow. The surprising move came weeks after the Andrew Lloyed-Webber production failed to claim any award nominations at the 2023 Tony Awards.

Since it was announced on Broadway, the production has stirred controversies and has been badly received by critics compared to its West End production.

Now, the company of "Bad Cinderella's" final performance has been revealed.

Broadway's 'Bad Cinderella' Final Performance

According to Playbill, "Bad Cinderella" will be having its final ball on Jun. 4, 2023, at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway.

To date, "Bad Cinderella" only played 33 previews and 85 performances. The show only opened last Mar. 23, 2023, with previews shown on Feb. 17, 2023.

The publication also noted that the production's closing was the second "casualty" that the 2023 Tony Awards have caused.

Notably, Bob Fosse's "Dancin" announced its closing date last May 2, 2023, after receiving no nominations from the Tony Awards 2023. It will close on May 14, 2023, with a shorter stint from "Bad Cinderella" as it opened only on Mar. 19, 2023, lasting only 65 performances.

Unlike "Dancin," which received positive reviews, "Bad Cinderella" didn't sit well with critics. Staying true to the show's "attitude" and social media behavior, the production posted a video of their New York Times review, painted over by a can of pink spray paint.

"Surprisingly vulgar, sexed-up and dumbed-down: a parade of hustling women in bustiers and shirtless pec-rippling hunks," the review said.

Unlike its West End predecessor, who contrastingly received overwhelmingly positive reviews, the show shut down because of COVID-19, not because they were not faring well at the box office.

With "Bad Cinderella" shutting down, it would be unprecedented that no Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical will be playing on Broadway for over four decades as "Phantom of the Opera" shut down production last month.

2023 Tony Awards Nominations

"Some Like It Hot" triumphed at the 2023 Tony Awards nominations with 13 nods, including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, and Best Direction.

"& Juliet," "New York, New York," and "Shucked" followed with nine nominations, all also competing for the Best Musical Category. "Kimberly Akimbo" tied with "Sweeney Todd" with eight nominations.

Meanwhile, the Best Revival category is packed with heavyweights as "Into the Woods," "Lerner & Loewe's Camelot," "Sweeney Todd," and "Parade" all battle for that Tony.
