This year's Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival had a successful beginning on its first day as numerous attendees were glad to see their favorite artists perform live. However, there was a slight inconvenience as some festivalgoers accidentally called 911 emergency services; how is this possible?

According to Loudwire, the annual music event started on June 15 and the Manchester Police Department took to social media to issue a statement after getting several 911 calls which were not intended.

The reason why the emergency hotline was accidentally called was because of a new iPhone feature called "Crash Detection Mode," which was added by its mother company, Apple, last year.

In order for it to work, the smartphone would detect a specific accident like car crash and it would alert and bring up an Emergency Call that the phone owner could use.

If the person didn't respond, the iPhone would automatically call 911.

Why Did Bonnaroo Attendees' Phones Called 911?

Since the new feature only works on car crashes, why did the festivalgoers' smartphones call 911?

The probable reason behind this could be the rapid movement and physical collisions that the attendees were doing during the event.

"It's likely that these calls are a result of 'Crash Detection Mode,' a new feature on Apple iPhones. Please be mindful and consider deactivating this feature on your phone until Bonnaroo concludes," the Manchester Police Department stated in a post.
