Nicki Minaj has long been called by many as the Queen of Rap. Despite criticisms and backlash hurled her way, she still manages to dominate the female rap scene more than a decade into her career.

Very recently, she beat Doja Cat as the biggest Female rapper to have had the biggest monthly listeners on Spotify with more than 65 million listeners. She was the first female rapper to achieve this feat.

Nicki Minaj Crowned As The Best New York Female Rapper

According to Complex's recent ranking of the Best New York Rappers, Nicki Minaj came in seventh, under 50 Cent, LL Cool J, Rakim, Nas, Notorious BIG, and Jay-Z.

Being ranked among rap titans is already a huge feat for Minaj, but she is no stranger to these rankings. In fact, she is the highest-ranking female rapper on the list at No. 7.

Thanks to the support of Lil Wayne, Minaj powered through with her mixtape "Beam Me Up Scotty," which eventually helped launched her career.

She also reintroduced and revived the dying female rap scene in the 2010s as she bridged rap, hip-hop, and pop, with her iconic album, "Pink Friday."

Minaj's pen game and artistic force made her the force she is today. Unleashing smash hits like "Super Bass," "Starships," and "Super Freaky Girl," Minaj has cemented herself to be the Queen of Rap.

She also paved the way for small, burgeoning artists like Doechii, Sexxy Redd, and even Ice Spice. With her guidance, Ice Spice, who ranked No. 50 on the same list, became a huge star in not less than a year. With Minaj, Ice Spice was able to secure two out of her four Billboard Hot 100 with the release of "Princess Diana" and "Barbie World."

"She's a trailblazer, trendsetter, and force of nature, with a mark on hip-hop that goes far beyond her chart-topping hits. Nicki has opened doors for countless rappers and empowered an entire generation of young women to be unapologetically themselves. There is no New York rap list without Nicki Minaj. Her legacy is written in bold, pink letters," the publication said about Minaj.
