Fans and netizens waited in bated breath for Gomez to release new music because it almost seemed like she had forgotten all about her music career and traded it in for her acting career and running Rare Beauty.
This is why the expectations towards her new song are insurmountable. Before it was even released, "Single Soon" had already topped the highly anticipated Billboard trending songs chart.
A tweet that read: "'Single Soon' by Selena Gomez is predicted to enter the top 20 of Billboard Hot 100 Charts, but needs stability. It is also eyeing the top 10."
Gomez was probably annoyed by how people were viewing her song as something serious because she took to Instagram and commented on the tweet.

Gomez expressed her frustrations with the expectations and the high regard towards the music charts and statistics.
"Broke my hand and had surgery," she wrote. "I don't care about selling anything. I'm just happy to make music with my friends."
It seems like the "Rare" singer has a different goal now as a singer, and instead of gunning to top the charts and sell out stadiums, Gomez just wants to take it easy and enjoy the process of making music with friends and her fans enjoying it.

Selena Gomez's 'Single Soon'
Unlike other breakup songs, Gomez is optimistic about becoming "Single Soon." Instead of crying and moping about it, she goes out and parties with friends.
The singer will also be releasing a new album soon, and she divulged some details about what inspired the songs in the album.
"I created this whole private life that was just mine, and I feel like now I have to tell these stories, and people are going to ask a lot of questions," Gomez explained.
It has been a while since Gomez has dated anyone seriously. Although her previous relationships have been quite controversial, especially her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
As of this writing, there is no information on when Gomez plans to release the upcoming album or if there will be any other singles lined up for the rest of the year.
