Former One Directioner Liam Payne was rushed to a hospital after struggling with a serious health issue.

The public captured Payne enjoying a trip to Lake Como in Italy with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, as they celebrated their one-year anniversary together. A few hours after they were pictured in public, a report confirmed he was rushed to a hospital to receive an emergency treatment.

What Happened to Liam Payne?

The Sun exclusively reported that Payne was rushed to a hospital after feeling an agonizing pain in his kidney. The emergency medical condition reportedly happened while he and Cassidy were at their property beside Lake Como.

The report revealed that he was transferred via ambulance into a hospital ward for emergency treatment, and he is still undergoing an undisclosed treatment at the Milan medical facility.

Sources close to the situation told the news outlet that Payne "is in a bad way" but assured he is in the best place where doctors can finally determine what has been going on with him.

"Naturally he is gutted that his and Kate's trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill," one insider said. "Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days."

The unnamed informant added that the doctors at the facility want to do every test possible, though they reportedly started thinking there has been an underlying issue that has gotten worse recently.

His recent health scare came after he told fans he needed to cancel his first solo tour due to a serious kidney infection.

It is highly likely that his current health issue is connected to his previous illness, though this has yet to be confirmed.
