Sum 41's Deryck Whibley has been discharged from the hospital following a health scare, his wife confirmed.

Whibley's wife, Ariana Cooper Whibley, first confirmed in a statement that the musician was hospitalized prior to their eighth wedding anniversary celebration in Chicago, revealing that he suffered pneumonia and faced the "possibility of heart failure."

Days after his hospitalization, Ariana delivered good news and confirmed Whibley's current health status to fans.

Deryck Whibley's Health Status Confirmed

In a new Instagram post, Whibley's wife confirmed that he had been discharged from the hospital after responding well to his treatments. She and her mother-in-law, who is a registered nurse, are now taking care of him at home.

"The pressure and strain on his heart and lungs has improved and he is able to breathe without as much pain," Ariana explained before expressing their family's gratitude for their love and support amid the shocking development.

She thanked everyone for helping them stay positive through the event until the Sum 41 frontman was finally able to return home.

The update came after Ariana shared an earlier post featuring a photo of the "In Too Deep" singer and two paramedics who assisted him into an ambulance. She revealed that, aside from pneumonia, they also found out that there was a lot of "strain on his heart" at the time of his hospitalization.

The pair have been married since 2015 and share son Lydon Idby and daughter Quentin Arlo.

According to Ariana, it was not the first time Whibley went through a similar state but the recent event reportedly brought back difficult memories to her.

She shared another photo of her holding Whibley's hand while the musician was in his hospital bed.

"I know how strong he is because I have witnessed what he has been able to overcome, but that doesn't make it any easier to see," she continued. "I'll do my best to keep everyone updated but if you could keep him in your heart over the next few days, we could really use it."

Deryck Whibley's Health Issues

It was not the first time Whibley faced a worrying health issue.

In April 2014, he collapsed on his home's kitchen floor after his liver and kidney failed. He was also rushed to a hospital at that time where he stayed in a coma for a week while his doctors detoxified his body from the substances he consumed.

The health scare finally pushed him to become sober.

His wife also went through depression and a suicide attempt, leading them to begin their healing journey together.
