Lorde was photographed looking unrecognizable as she started living a simpler life outside the spotlight.

In September 2013, Lorde officially debuted and immediately caught the world's attention with her album "Pure Heroine." The music project also included her hit single "Royals," which led the material to appear on year-end best album lists.

Amid the success, she also faced several setbacks that somewhat affected her career.

Where Is Lorde Now?

A fan posted a photoset on Twitter featuring Lorde taking public transportation in New York City. The 26-year-old "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" singer looked unrecognizable as she ditched her pop star style and opted to wear white jeans, a patterned T-shirt and a sweater.

"anyway I met lorde yesterday and let her know that she wrote melodrama for me specifically," the fan wrote.

The post has reached 1.3 million views as of press time and received comments from other fans.

One said, "Gonna be sooooooooooooo broken if the louvre gets stuck in my head again."

"I would've cried and melodrama was meant for ussss," one wrote, while the fan who posted the photos replied, "Hopefully she's here making another album."

Lorde's public appearance happened a month after she marked the 10th anniversary of her album "Pure Heroin" in September.

Lorde Reportedly Earns "Less Money"

In a 2021 interview with The Wall Street Journal, Lorde said she had been trying to tone down things as she began keeping a low profile.

The "Stoned at the Nail Salon" singer added that she would want to perform in a small-scale venue with 5,000 who know her songs than welcome more attendees who only heard two of her songs.

Although she does not earn as much as she did before, she clarified that it does not bother her in any way.

"I have zero anxiety about it," she said. "But I'm sure there is someone with a spreadsheet somewhere, who can point to the ways in which I'm making less money."

Lorde also called herself an "amphitheater girl" than an "arena girl." However, her albums might not appear on the Billboard 200 chart if she pursues a performance in a smaller venue and drops her songs in music boxes instead.

By the end of the interview, she expressed her gratitude that she was able to earn such a huge amount of respect.
