Mariah Carey has been romantically linked to several high-profile celebrities over the years, but that is understandable when you're one of the best-selling, chart-topping artists in the world.
Following her breakup with her former dancer, Bryan Tanaka, there has been renewed interest in the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer's dating history.
Aside from her confirmed relationships, Carey also dealt with several rumored flings, like with Eminem--which she vehemently denies, which is heard in her hit song "Obsessed," as well as Marcus Schenkenberg.
Carey is famously linked to the following men: Nick Cannon, the father of her twins Moroccan and Monroe, and Tommy Mottola, the former executive of Sony Music.
Mariah Carey's Marriage to Tommy Mottola
According to reports, Carey married 43-year-old Mottola in June of 1993, when she was 23 years old; they later divorced in 1998.
"It felt like he was cutting off my circulation, keeping me from my friends and what little 'family' I had," the Queen of Christmas wrote in her 2020 memoir, "The Meaning of Mariah Carey."
"I couldn't talk to anyone that wasn't under Tommy's control. I couldn't go out or do anything with anybody. I couldn't move freely in my own house."
Meanwhile, Mottola apologized to the singer in his own memoir, "Hitmaker: The Man and His Music."
"If it seemed like I was controlling, let me apologize again. Was I obsessive? Yes. But that was also part of the reason for her success," he wrote.
"The problem was that I was the chairman of Sony and her husband at the same time."
The singer was able to break free of her abusive marriage when she met Derek Jeter; they dated for a year after meeting at a dinner party.
Mariah Carey's Dating History Explored
After her affair with Jeter, Carey moved on with Luis Miguel in 1998, followed by Christian Monzon in 2005.
The singer then began dating Cannon in 2008 and tied the knot shortly afterward; with Cannon, she gave birth to twins in 2011.
Despite being divorced, Cannon still refers to Carey as the "love of [his] life."
In 2015, Carey dated billionaire James Packer; they were briefly engaged before she broke it off and moved on with Tanaka, with whom she was in a relationship for seven years.
According to Hola, despite the breakup, Carey is going full steam ahead with her plans for the Holiday season.
"Everyone around her is talking about how she's operating on all cylinders these days, and how amazing she looks," a source said.
