Bassnectar Releases Diverse 16-Track 'Into The Sun' Mixtape
American bass don, Lorin Ashton, known professionally as Bassnectar has been hard at work this past year making loads of new music and he has at last released the mother lode in the form of a new mixtape titled Into The Sun. The diverse, 16-track project is heavy collaborations with various other producers and rappers with a few remixes sprinkled in for the likes of The Naked & Famous, David Heartbreak and Psymbionic & Of The Trees. -
TomorrowWorld 2015 Lineup: Bassnectar, Kaskade, Porter Robinson Added
The summer festival is well under way with multiple events happening each weekend across the glove. However, many electronic music fans have already circled on their calendar the end of September as their big destination with the third running of ID&T's largest North American EDM music festival, TomorrowWorld. Last month, the three-day event announced the first wave of artists who will headline the festival and today they have unveiled the second batch of artists who will head go down to Georgia in September. -

Bassnectar on Tom Morello Collaboration: "We Have This F*cking Killer Song"
Back in March, Rage against the Machine frontman Tom Morello shared a photo of him working with American bass don, Bassnectar working in the studio "rocking some brutal rifftastic futurebangerz." In anticipation of the "Vava Voom" producer's upcoming album Into The Sun's release on June 30, Bassnectar spoke to Rolling Stone about his work with Morello and Dave Grohl's unwavering push back against electronic music. -

Survived Memorial Day Weekend? Good because you have a full summer ahead of you filled with various music events all across the country. Festivals like Lollapalooza, EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo and Outside Lands all command attention, but heading to smaller niche ones will be more then enough for a weekend escape. One such festival is Moonrise Festival, formerly known as Starscape, which will feature some of the names in electronic music. The two headliners will be Bassnectar and Above & Beyond, with additional major acts like Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, The Glitch Mob and Big Gigantic also on the bill. -
'We Are Your Friends' Trailer: Zac Efron, Emily Ratajkowski Star in EDM Movie
EDM is coming to the big screen in a big way. Roles have been given to actors who have played DJs in the past, but there haven't been any major Hollywood films with premiere actors involved. That is what has happened with a Warner Bros. Pictures and Studiocanal film titled "We Are Your Friends," which is set to star Zac Efron, model turned actor Emily Ratajkowski and Wes Bentley ("Interstellar," "The Hunger Games"). The plot focuses on a 23-year-old aspiring DJ, Zac Efron, who spends his days and nights scheming with his friends to try and become a superstar DJ. There has been buzz over the past year during filming, while Efron got DJ lessons from Alesso and spent time with Martin Garrix getting into the role. Now the full 3:15 trailer has been released and it tells nearly the whole story of the film. -
Camp Bisco Announces 2015 Location, Lineup:
Just when we thought Camp Bisco was dead in the water, the much-maligned festival relocates and makes a huge announcement. After being chased out of Upstate New York due to considerable drug and safety concerns expressed by local and state officials, the three-day camping music celebration has relocated to Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The news of its move to where The Office is filmed was revealed yesterday when fans unlocked the clue in a cryptic crossword, later confirmed by the festival on its official Instagram page. In addition to announcing the dates and location, Bisco has also announced the first wave of artists who will be headed to Montage Mountain in July. Among those included are Bassnectar, Pretty Lights and festival mainstays The Disco Biscuits. -
Bumbershoot Announces 2015 Lineup
Just as Chicago's Labor Day weekend festival, Northcoast Music Festival announced its lineup yesterday; Seattle's Bumbershoot has unveiled a musical billing of its own. The three-day festival, which runs from Saturday to Monday, instead of the typical Friday to Sunday affair, will host a wide variety of artists from across the world of music. Acts like The Weeknd, Hozier, Zedd, Ellie Goulding, Faith No More and Chance The Rapper will all get headlining slots at Bumbershoot. -

Electric Forest Addresses Rumors of Beetle Infestation in Sherwood Forest
Festivals normally are subject to all sorts of outside pressures like potential low ticket sales, trouble with the law or bad weather, but Michigan-based EDM festival, Electric Forest, is fighting a different battle with Mother Nature. Taking place on the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, the festival grounds are situated in a large wooded area, known as Sherwood Forest. According to a reddit poster, the forest is under attack by the Red Pine Beetle and organizers had contacted local foresters in attempt to quell the infestation, but Electric Forest wants fans to know their favorite forest is healthy for now. -

EDM mastermind Bassnectar and political rocker Tom Morello have been spotted in the studio together for in an unlikely collaboration. Bassnectar posted an Instagram photo of him and the Rage Against The Machine guitarist jamming in the studio with the caption "in the studio with @tommorello, raging against machines!!!!" -
The Hudson Project Dead in Water After One Year, Disappointing Attendance and Rainout During 2014
The Hudson Project got off to a rocky start during 2014 and it looks, for the time being at least, that the electronic music festival might not be back as a result. A representative of Winston Farms, the location for the event last year, told a local paper in upstate New York that "the Hudson Project is on hold for the moment" and "it's not coming back this year."
