Future Music Festival Has Been Canceled for 2016
No, this is not some cruel post-April Fool's Day joke -- this is the real thing. Late last night, April 1, or this afternoon, April 2, for our Australian friends, Mushroom Group's largest festival Future Music Festival announced that it was canceling the long-standing dance music event. In a short Facebook post, the festival made the announcement reasoning that continuing the event "simply doesn't make financial sense anymore." The event, headlined by the likes of Drake, Avicii, 2 Chainz and The Prodigy, has called it quits after 10 years. -
Lil B Banned by Facebook for 'Hate Speech' After Tweets About Racism
Bay Area rapper Lil B claims he has been temporarily banned by Facebook for "hate speech" following tweets about racism weeks after his MIT lecture. The self-proclaimed "Based God" took to his Twitter account to share his thoughts on various things, including racism, animal rights and slavery. He called out America and those citizens who partake in or fail to defend the mistreatment of humans and animals. The tweets reportedly showed up on his Facebook page. With no hesitation, B began his series of tweets with: "If you were born in the 1950's or before and your family did not push to have segregation and slavery stop ur grandparents are p---y." Following the post, Facebook blocked the "Wonton Soup" rapper. -

Richie Hawtin Pens Facebook Apology After Pushing Speaker on Fan
Thanksgiving is a time for spending time with your family, stuffing your face with incredible food and being thankful for what we have. Over the weekend, dance music fans gave thanks to the techno gods for bringing German indoor dance music festival Time Warp stateside to the 39th Street Pier in Brooklyn for its 20th anniversary. Taking place on Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, the two-day festival featured a lineup that included house and techno heavyweights like Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Dixon, Sven Väth, Joseph Capriati, Dubfire:liveHYBRID, The Martinez Brothers and others. The festival was seemingly successful, but one incident has caught headlines after the festival. One of the premiere DJs on the lineup, Richie Hawtin, was showing off his moves in the booth, and upon seeing a young woman standing there filming the whole thing on her iPhone, he vented his frustration by pushing a monitor onto the fan. After the dust settled and fans had seen the video of him pushing the speaker into the iPhone-wielding fan, Richie Hawtin took to his Facebook page to pen a public apology for the incident. -

Garth Brooks Facebook, Twitter: Singer Personally Handles Posts
Garth Brooks is now on Facebook and Twitter. In fact, he is showing a real enthusiasm for the whole social media thing, but he had good reasons for staying off the sites for several years. "Well, up till August of this year, you've gotta remember, I was in my children's life," Brooks told the "Sean & Richie Show," via The Boot. "That was everything. And, no offense, I didn't feel it was right to share that." Things have changed, though. "Pretty cool now, though: The kids are all gone, we're out on tour and people want to know about that?" he said. "Heck, yeah, I can talk about that all day long." Brooks said he is personally handling his own social media posts, marked "Love, g" at the bottom. "Team Garth" is still posting regularly on both sites. -

Garth Brooks returned to recording with "Man Against Machine" Tuesday, Nov. 11, making the release his first since 2001's "Scarecrow." Now that he is back in the public eye, Brooks decided to join Twitter and Facebook to connect with fans, and "The Dance" singer's first-day numbers are pretty staggering. According to "CMT News," Brooks joined Twitter the morning of his album's release date, posting a selfie that currently boasts 2,141 retweets and 4,993 favorites. By Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 12, the country icon amassed 69,000 followers, which CMT figured out amounted to 45 followers every minute. As of today, Nov. 13, Brooks has more than 77,000 followers, but only follows nine people. Wife Trisha Yearwood and Brad Paisley made the cut, as well as actor Chris Pratt, "Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts — whom the singer brought to tears with a tender rendition of "Mom" — and TV personality Ellen DeGeneres. -
