• Super Bowl concerts in and around New York City [SCHEDULE]

    With the weekend soon approaching, there are opportunities in and around New York City for football and music fans. VH1, Citi Bank, Bud Light and EA Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN, Live Nation, Pandora, Direct TV, REVOLT and more are hosting Super Bowl concerts to hype up the big game. A blizzard may be headed our way, but the acts headed to the Big Apple are hot.     This year, R&B and rap were recognized in a big way at the 2014 Grammys. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis really took over the genre for the awards. In addition to just taking home multiple trophies, they made a huge impression during their performance when Queen Latifah joined them to officiate the marriages 33 couples and Madonna joined in. When asked what Latifah thinks about the winners in the Best New Artist category, she told Los Angeles Times: "Macklemore & Lewis are hugely successful with Grammy after Grammy for making good music and for talking about things that matter to people."

    Jay Z, the NBA and developer Bruce Ratner are being sued for $600 million over The Brooklyn Nets' name, according to RadarOnline. A displeased entrepreneur claims that he trademarked the name "Brooklyn Nets" long before the basketball team ever left New Jersey for Brooklyn.

    Billboard has released its annual list of the 100 most powerful figures in music, and once again, actual performers don't play much of a role. However, in one of the few spots on the list performers were able to grab, they grabbed a pretty good post: Jay Z and Beyoncé were named the most powerful "individual" in music.
