• Fall Out Boy and Meghan Trainor Set January Mark with New Albums on Billboard 200, while Taylor Swift Stays Comfortable

    Fall Out Boy and a slew of other new albums broke the dam and brought forth a flood of debuts back onto the Billboard 200 after the holiday sales lull. That band's American Beauty/American Psycho premiered at no. 1 with 218,000 equivalent albums sold, and its 192,000 actual album sales teamed with Meghan Trainor's debut last week for the first pair of albums released during January to top 150,000 apiece since 2010. American Beauty marked a significant uptick in sales from the band's 2013 album Save Rock and Roll.

    Today (Jan. 22), a new solo track by Libertines frontman Pete Doherty, titled "Flags of the Old Regime," premiered on BBC Radio 1, but you can check it out for yourself here. The track finds the garage-rocker taking a more subdued approach, employing an acoustic guitar, organ, a string section and some minimal percussion for a heartbreaking tribute to his late friend Amy Winehouse. According to reports, the song will see an official release in March with all proceeds going towards the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Cole as the only performers to interrupt Swift since 1989 came out 12 weeks ago. We'll see what happens next week with regard to that streak.

  • The Roots Perform Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars's 'Uptown Funk' as Black Simon & Garfunkel [WATCH]

    Black Simon & Garfunkel — aka Questlove and Kirk Douglas of The Roots — stopped by "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" last night, Jan. 14, to turn another contemporary pop tune into a folk ballad, "Billboard" notes. This time around the duo chose the Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars collaboration "Uptown Funk," which is dominating the charts. As always, the boys did not disappoint. The hilarious duo sang pieces of each verse, blending the lyrics to make a mellow tune. "This hit / That ice cold / Michelle Pfeiffer / That white gold," they sing in harmony in the clip below. "I'm too hot (hot damn) / Called a police and a fireman / I'm too hot (hot damn) / Make a dragon wanna retire man / Girls hit your hallelujah (whuoo) / 'Cause Uptown Funk gon' give it to you / Saturday night and we in the spot / Don't believe me just watch." Quest and Douglas then break into their signature "la la la's" before wrapping up the song.

    Last year, music legend Stevie Wonder set out on a tour to commemorate his classic album "Songs in the Key of Life," but just in case you missed him, Wonder has announced a new string of tour dates for March and April, which you can check out below. According to "radio.com," Wonder's newly announced tour dates kick off March 17 in Denver, and finish up April 12 with a performance at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, with dates in Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Louisville, Minneapolis, Austin, Nashville and Baltimore in between. For each concert on his "Songs in the Key of Life" tour, Wonder will perform all 21 songs from his classic 1976 album, along with other songs from throughout his career — it was not the only great album he made, after all. In other Stevie Wonder news, the 64-year-old singer will be the subject of a special Grammy tribute, which will air on CBS Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. Among the artists slated to perform at the event are Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Janelle Monae, Usher and Willie Nelson.

    Mark Ronson is taking over the pop world with his new single "Uptown Funk" from his fourth studio effort "Uptown Special," out today, Jan. 13. The producer invited a slew of artists to join in on the album, but the biggest addition was Bruno Mars, who worked on the lead single. Ronson and Mars have met before on the latter's 2012 release "Unorthodox Jukebox"= and even performed a tribute to Amy Winehouse — another Ronson artist — at the 2011 MTV VMAs. It is a partnership that has been pretty good to all parties involved. Ronson, in modest fashion, gave all the props to Mars for the surprise success of "Uptown Funk" in a recent Q&A with the Associated Press. "I know of course it has so much to do with Bruno," he said. "It's like even if the record was garbage, it's Bruno Mars, you're guaranteed a certain level of attention, right? ... I'm as proud of ['Uptown Funk']. ... It's awesome, but at the same time it almost feels like it's happening to somebody else." The producer also talked about sharing the stage with the pop star, who is known for his high energy and showmanship.

    Queens rapper Action Bronson has shared a new track titled "Actin Crazy" from his upcoming album "Mr. Wonderful," which you can check out below — you can check out the insane yet incredible cover art above. The track, produced by 40 and Omen, is a refreshing change of pace from the typical trap beats you hear in modern hip-hop, with a woozy, constantly swelling sound reminiscent of something that MF Doom or Madlib would have done on "Madvillainy" — in simpler terms, it is great. Though Bronson shared the tracklist for "Mr. Wonderful" late last month, "Pitchfork" reports that he has revealed the featured artists on the album, which include Chance the Rapper, Meyhem Lauren, Big Body Bes, Party Supplies and Chauncey Sherod.
