George Strait may have travelled off the touring horizon with his "The Cowboy Rides Away" farewell concert at AT&T Stadium in Dallas last year but that doesn't mean he's done with performing, or even new music. In fact, the Academy of Country Music confirmed that the icon would be playing just that, new music, when he appears at the ACM Awards on April 19. Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban will also be performing that night.

Kelly Clarkson raised $400,000 at her Miracle on Broadway benefit this weekend in Nashville, which featured the likes of Reba McEntire, Meghan Trainor, Hayley Williams, Kacey Musgraves and several other stars. On Tuesday, CMT revealed Clarkson's secret to landing so many celebrities. "I basically guilted people into it," Clarkson said. "I've never asked an artist to do anything, except for sing with me, which a lot of people say no, and it hurts my feelings. So it was a very brave thing for me." One of those recruits was Country Hall of Famer Dolly Parton, who Clarkson contacted at the behest of her husband.
  • Kelly Clarkson, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire Raise Charity Money with Christmas Concert

Former "American Idol" champion Kelly Clarkson organized a concert recently in order to raise money for various charities. Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood all jumped at the opportunity to raise funds with their talents. The Miracle on Broadway concert occurred Saturday, Dec. 20, in Nashville with Meghan Trainor, Brooks & Dunn and Martina McBride. It raised $200,000 before Brooks and Yearwood matched that total, bringing the sum to $400,000, the "Tennessean" reports. "I figured if I got [McEntire], everyone would have to say yes," Clarkson said about her mother-in-law. "I've never asked an artist to do anything other than sing with me, which a lot of people say no and it hurts my feelings, which is OK." Kacey Musgraves and Paramore's Hayley Williams were also on hand. Dolly Parton had a scheduling conflict, but she promised to be there next year.

  • Reba McEntire Talks New Music, Love Song 'I Don't Have Many of Those'

We have no idea what Reba McEntire's new album will be called or when it will be released, but we do know one thing: It is happening. The country queen's most recent studio effort, "All the Women I Am," was released in 2010. "I figured it was over," she recently told "Billboard," via The Boot. McEntire said her husband, Narvel Blackstock, convinced her she had more left in the tank. "[He] kept saying, 'No, it's not; you'll record again.' And I was like, 'Wow, where's your crystal ball?'" Blackstock was right, and now McEntire is freely talking about the process for her new disc. She even has a love song: "I Don't Have Many of Those." "One thing we are sticklers about is keeping the emotion — not to make it perfect," she said. "I want it to feel heartfelt — lots of soul with it. With the technology nowadays and our engineers being so incredible, you can say, 'I want to sing that,' and they're ready, or then, 'I want to sing it again,' and they're ready. There are overdubs, you can comp it, and you can make it just right." There is another convenient aspect of country music: McEntire gets to hand-pick songs for her album from a trove of unreleased tunes.
