  • Judge rules Pandora must pay 1.8 percent of annual revenue to ASCAP, and ASCAP isn't happy.

    A rate court judge has issued a ruling in the argument between Pandora and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Judge Denise Cote ruled that Pandora would pay ASCAP, a non-profit which handles copyrights and issues royalties for its members, 1.85 percent of its annual revenue. For those unfamiliar with the going rates for music streaming services: Pandora's the winner here, and ASCAP isn't happy.

    After an almost four-month back-and-forth legal battle, Beastie Boys and feminist toy company GoldieBlox have settled a lawsuit about the fair use of the hip-hop trio's 1987 track "Girls" for a parody ad campaign. According to The Hollywood Reporter, with the settlement agreement, the terms of which haven't been made known, the case is dismissed with prejudice.

    After getting the boot from rehab, it seems as though singer Chris Brown will be sticking around in jail. Yesterday (March 17), a judge ordered that Brown would not be able to enter another rehab facility until his April 23 court hearing regarding his probation in the 2009 Rihanna assault case.
