Over the past few years, Tracy Chapman has maintained a very private life as she rarely attends public events like awards shows or concerts, but there are recent reports that the singer will take the stage at the Grammy Awards with a major country star; could this be true?

Sources spoke to Variety to claim that the legendary musician will attend this year's Grammy Awards to perform her hit song "Fast Car" along with Luke Combs.

Originally released in the late 80s, Taste of Country reported that the song revolves around a couple who wanted to escape cyclical poverty.

Combs released his own rendition of the track in 2023 under his album "Gettin' Old" and it was a massive hit to his fans.

If ever the rumors about her appearance are true, this will be a shocker to everyone, especially her fans, because since 2009, she only appeared in public events for three times, including the one when she performed at her most recent tour.

As of this writing, neither Luke Combs nor Tracy Chapman has confirmed whether the rumors about their performance are true or not.

Luke Combs' Rendition of 'Fast Car'

Combs had previously expressed that he wanted to perform with Chapman in the past as he shared a statement when the song hit number one as he said that he would "be more than excited if the opportunity arose."

The outlet stated that the country singer reached out to Chapman's team to get permission for his version of "Fast Car" to be released as a single, even though he was not legally required to.

Even though her song became popular in 2023, the musician remained private and opted not to attend public events even though she won an award from the Country Music Association.

In a statement read from the stage at the time, it reads: "I'm sorry I couldn't join you all tonight... It's truly an honor for my song to be newly recognized after 35 years of its debut. Thank you to the CMAs and a special thanks to Luke and all of the fans of 'Fast Car.'"
