Ever since Jay-Z spoke against the Grammys and The Recording Academy during his Dr. Dre Global Impact for Music acceptance speech at the recently concluded 2024 Grammy Awards, the conversation as to why her wife, Beyonce, not receiving a Grammy for Album of the Year, has hit an all time high.

Despite being the most-awarded artist in Grammy History with 32 astounding gramophones, it is baffling to learn that Beyonce has yet to win the top prize.

Now, her father, record executive Mathew Knowles claimed that her record is to be blamed for this issue.

Columbia Records To Be Blamed For Beyonce's Album of the Year Loss?

Speaking to TMZ after the 2024 Grammy Awards, American record executive Mathew Knowles shined a light on the said issue.

"People don't know the process. Your record label can only appoint one person in a category. So that means her record label, Columbia Records, her record label has never really put her in that category for consideration," Knowles revealed.

In Beyonce's case last year at the 2023 Grammy Awards, "Renaissance" is in a three-way battle with Adele's "30" and Harry Styles' "Harry's House" as Columbia's entries to the Album of the Year category.

The same case could be said in 2017 when Beyonce's "Lemonade" was up against another labelmate, Adele's "25." Adele won in 2017 while Harry Styles won in 2023.

"I mean, there's a financial reason. Maybe Adele sold more records worldwide? I don't know these answers. But these are some of the thought processes that they go through," he continued. "Maybe you say, 'You know, Beyoncé has her success. Here's an opportunity to push Adele, so let's push her.'"

Alluding to his experience in the recording industry, Knowles had this to say: "I've been 14 years in those rooms supporting the label. I know exactly how this works."

Jay-Z Calls Out Grammy Awards For Not Awarding Beyonce AOTY

As he graciously accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, Jay-Z saw a window of opportunity and blindsided everyone with a shocking call out for The Recording Academy and the GRAMMYs.

"I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year," Jay-Z shared. "The most Grammys - never won Album of the Year. That math doesn't work."

Surprisingly, Beyonce has won 32 Grammy Awards out of 88 nominations, but nowhere in that heaping number did the singer win the top prize.

"We love y'all. We want y'all to get it right," he went on to say. "I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than anyone and never won album of the year. So even by your own metrics, that doesn't work."
