Michael Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson, who plays the King of Pop's role in the upcoming biopic "Michael," attracted people's attention due to his uncanny resemblance to the late singer.

On Tuesday, February 13, MJ's official X page uploaded a sneak peek at Jaafar's portrayal of his uncle in the "Michael" biopic. It wrote in the caption, "The journey has begun....#MichaelMovie."

In the photo, Jaafar dons an outfit fearturing a white V-neck and black pants. He also ties his curly hair into a low ponytail while singing onstage.

Producer Graham King applauded Jaafar for having the splitting image of the legendary music icon.

"With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael," King wrote in a statement. "He embodies Michael in a way that no other actor could."

Meanwhile, fans rejoiced after seeing the "hair-raising" photo as they were reportedly reminded of the King of Pop.

"Michael" Team Dedicated To Show the Best Biopic

In the statement, director Antoine Fuqua revealed how they transformed Jaafar for the biopic.

"We have assembled an incredible team of artists for this project - hair and makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything - and some who knew and worked with Michael are reuniting for this film," he said. "But most importantly, it's Jaafar who embodies Michael. It goes beyond the physical resemblance. It's Michael's spirit that comes through in a magical way. You have to experience it to believe it."

According to photographer Kevin Mazur, who captured the first-look image, he reportedly felt like it was the first time he went on tour to shoot Jackson. He also immediately thought of the King of Pop upon seeing Jaafar because of the rising star's looks, mannerisms and the way he acts.

"Michael" biopic will arrive on big screens on April 18, 2025.
