Beyoncé just entered her new era of music and many people were shocked that she took the country route. Ever since the singer dropped her first two singles, online users were divided about her genre and some even crticized her for it.
It seems like her mother, Tina Knowles, got her back as she defended her daughter from critics; check out what she has to say below.
Knowles took to her official Instagram account to share a compilation of Beyoncé's photos exploring the country genre and in the caption, she clarified that her daughter has always celebrated country as she grew up in Texas.
"We also always understood that it was not just about it belonging to White culture only. In Texas there is a huge black cowboy culture. Why do you think that my kids have integrated it into their fashion and art since the beginning," she wrote.

Later in the post, Knowles noted that she finds it funny when people ask why Beyoncé wears cowboy hats these days because she had been wearing them since she was a kid.
"We went to rodeos every year and my whole family dressed in western fashion," she added. (via Billboard)
The fashion designer/former hairstylist then credited her other daughter, Solange, for releasing an album based on Black cowboy culture.

She concluded her post by saying that the country/cowboy culture has always been a part of their life growing up.
As of this writing, Beyoncé herself has yet to comment about the negative comments she received regarding her new genre.
Beyoncé Makes History With New Country Song
Last week, at the Super Bowl, Beyoncé collaborated with Verizon for a commercial and after it aired, she released two new country songs titled "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages."
Nearly two weeks later, the singer made history for becoming the first Black woman to top the Hot Country Songs chart on Billboard thanks to her song "Texas Hold 'Em." (via USA Today)
The other released track debuted at number nine based on streaming, airplay, and sales.
In other updates about the singer, her new album "Act II," which is the continuation of her 2022 record "Renaissance," will be available for streaming starting on March 29, 2024, via Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.
