Ariana Grande and her new boyfriend Ethan Slater received immense backlash and harsh criticism from netizens and tabloid reports about their relationship.

For months, the singer-slash-actress was labeled a homewrecker and serial-cheater by many, and while she stayed away from social media during that time, she is finally breaking her silence about the treatment she received.

"We selectively remember that this is what the tabloids do to people, especially women, based on whether or not we like the person," Grande explained during her interview with Zach Sang.

She went on and called out netizens and the tabloids' double standards and misogyny.

"We selectively leave space for humanness, for nuance, they don't leave space for that - well they do for their friends and family. It's selective.

They turn it off when that aligns with the version of a person that they have in their head that they want to believe is true."

Ariana Grande Draws Flak For 'Homewrecking'

According to reports, this is not the first time the "Positions: hitmaker addressed the allegations regarding her romantic life.

"I have never felt [...] so deeply misunderstood by people who don't know me, who piece whispers together, make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life," she wrote in an Instagram post following the release of her single, "Yes, And?"

Grande drew flak after she began dating her "Wicked" co-star, Slater so soon after her breakup with her ex-husband, Dalton Gomez.

Slater, on the other hand, recently split from his wife Lilly Jay; the former couple just welcomed their first child.

Many questioned the timeline of their relationship, and whether there were any overlaps.

"We don't need to go into any specifics, but of course, there's an insatiable frustration, inexplicable, hellish feeling with watching people misunderstand the people you love and you and anything," the "7 Rings" singer added.
