Ariana Grande's "Wicked" role as Glinda is something she has dreamt of since she was young, but she had no expectations about getting it one day.

Grande has been cast as Glinda on "Wicked" opposite Tony-winning actress Cynthia Erivo as "Glinda."

Ariana Grande Had 'No Expectations' Before Landing Dream 'Wicked' Role

Speaking to The Zach Sang Show on YouTube, Ariana Grande talked about bagging her dream role in "Wicked."

"I have never wanted something as badly as I did this," Grande proclaimed in the interview. "I had no expectations, I was just thankful to go in at all, I was so excited to have the opportunity to audition."

Grande has confessed to having deconstructed herself to embody the role she has been attracted to since she was 10. The pop star also admitted that she has seen "Wicked" more than a dozen times.

The "POV" singer also revealed during the interview that she has since been hunting producer Marc Platt for almost a decade to secure herself for an audition.

"Since I was 20, I was like, 'Hey, I don't know when this is happening, but when it's happening, may I please at least just audition?' That's all I wanted, was an audition. I've never wanted anything more," she added.

Apparently, Grande has been putting the work in since she was coaching at "The Voice." After taping the talent show, she's also preparing for the role through voice and acting lessons.

"I am a person who started on Broadway and I've always been a musical theater person," she reminded. "It all happened absolutely as it was meant to be."

Sang then noted that Grande's dedication is similar to someone who has been preparing for the Super Bowl.

"I trained every single day to prove to [Wicked producers] that I could handle taking on this other person," she added.

She then reminded Grande to give her own spin on the iconic role.

"What I want to encourage you to do is make Glinda your Glinda. Sure, you can tip your hat for me if you want. But, really I just want you to do you," she added.
