LeGrand Gold, popularly known for being the Dolly Parton fan who went viral after the country star serenaded him as he recovered from cancer, has passed away at the age of 48.

According to People Magazine, who confirmed the news, the super fan died in Utah on Feb. 8, 2024, just a few weeks after the country legend gave him a surprise phone call where she sang her hit song "I Will Always Love You."

During their conversation, Parton told him that she was happy to know that she had a supporter who was "devoted."

"I'm just happy that we got to kind of have our journey together in this lifetime. I always want to make people happy with my music and with the things I do and the things I say and I'm just happy to know that I've touched your life in some way," she added.

What Was LeGrand Gold's Cause of Death?

According to Taste of Country, Gold suffered from Stage 4 cancer for a few years. Unfortunately, towards the end of 2023, he decided to stop focusing on his recovery but instead put his attention to checking off things from his bucket list, which he called "LeGrand's List of Living."

His list included spending more time with his wife and children, going to Chicago for a trip, and meeting Dolly Parton.

The funeral details were posted on his wife's blog, where photos of him were shared as his family remembered him.

It was noted that his burial also took place in Utah on Feb. 17, 2023.

The recent news comes a few weeks after Dolly Parton proudly embraced Beyoncé after she released her country songs "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages."

Taking to her official Instagram account, the musician shared an official statement commending the singer for the success of her country tracks.

"I'm a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she's done a country album. So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can't wait to hear the full album!" she wrote.

Beyoncé's two tracks are part of her upcoming album, Act II, which will heavily feature country music. Fans will get to enjoy her new record on March 29, 2024.
