On International Women's Day, eight women were honored with Barbie dolls of their own, including Helen Mirren, Shania Twain, and Kylie Minogue.

Mattel has selected "global storytellers" to have Barbie dolls modeled in their likenesses as a way to commemorate the company's 65th anniversary.

The toy company praised Twain for being one of the "renowned trailblazers breaking down barriers for women in country music" and noted that Minogue's "glittering career has kept her firmly rooted in the present whilst defining and celebrating much of our collective past."

"One of the world's best known and most respected actresses, along with being an advocate for embracing and celebrating self-expression, aging, and fashion," they said, referring to Mirren as such.

The record-breaking "Barbie" movie's narrator, Helen Mirren, expressed her shock at the honor, saying it "absolutely blew her away."

"It's a very special thing and something I can add to my list of my favourite achievements - becoming a Dame of the British Empire, having an Oscar, having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and having my own Barbie," she said.

The unique doll is modeled after Helen Mirren's ensemble from last year's Cannes film festival red carpet, which included a blue dress and matching blue hair.

A little Oscar memento honoring her 2007 Best Actress Academy Award for The Queen is also included with the doll.

While Twain recreates the ensemble and top hat from her "Man I Feel Like A Woman" music video, Minogue's Barbie is modeled by her all-red ensemble from her "Padam Padam" music video, which is completed with the long pink hair from her "Queen Of Me" tour.

Oscar-winning actor and producer Viola Davis, content creator Maira Gomez from the Tatuyo ethnic group's indigenous village in Amazonia, Mexican filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter Lila Avilés, Japanese model Nicole Fujita, and German comedian Enissa Amani are among the other women honored.

The release, which coincides with Barbie's 65th anniversary, is a component of the Barbie Dream Gap Project, an initiative that Mattel says was started in 2018 with the goal of dispelling gender stereotypes and assisting "girls in realizing their full potential."

This week's new dolls feature these four well-known women in addition to Mexican director Lila Avilés, Japanese model Nicole Fujita, German humorist Enissa Amani, and designer Maira Gomez of Brazil's indigenous Tatuyo community.
