Multiple news outlets confirmed that Guitarist Brother Dege died at the age of 56.

The famed Lafayette native, Dege Legg, shocked the industry with his untimely death on March 8. He was about to release a new album before the news about his demise surfaced.

Multiple news outlets quoted Brother Dege's colleagues and friends who posted tribute messages after his death.

Lafayette musician Eric Adcock took to Facebook and expressed his heartbreak after losing his pal as he remembered the last "hey bro" and hug they shared.

"What I admired most about you was your humble kindness. And..zero ego - which was so refreshing in the music scene," Adcock said. "And always an intelligent, insightful conversation and a genuine interest in others. You worked incredibly hard with strategic focus to reach great heights in a very difficult career path, and that was admired by all."

He continued, "Your music sounded like you, which made it true. Your legacy will live on through your music, your incredible literature, and how wonderful you made others feel. Rest in peace, buddy."

Julian Primeaux also posted a black-and-white image of Brother Gege and included a heartfelt poem that honored his legacy, adding, "We'll meet again in Valhalla."

Fans also commented on the tribute posts to pay respect to the famed musician.

One said, "Oh no! I was such a huge cab log fan and read it in real time as it was published. I was lucky enough to tell him how much I enjoyed it when he was at the independent one day. What a loss."

"Sad news Dege was a deep south legend and unique soul. Sending love and peace," another wrote.

"Unbelievable! So sad. May you R.I.P. Dege! My deepest condolences to the family and friends," a third commented.

Brother Dege Was About to Release His New Album

Brother Dege was set to release his new album, "Turn Of The Screw," on March 15 a week before he passed away.

"The idea behind 'Turn of the Screw' is the feeling of the last stop before jumping off a cliff," Dege said of the material, per Broadway World. "It's the decision to do something regardless of whether you know it will end good or bad. It's the intoxicating thrill of taking a chance on something and hoping it all works out for the best."

Brother Dege also had scheduled tours, beginning on March 16 in Austin and ending on April 29 in Berlin.

His cause of death remains unknown as of press time.
