Kelly Clarkson filed a new cross-complaint against her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

On December 1, 2023, Blackstock appealed the November ruling, stating that he and Starstruck Entertainment were entitled to a separate trial. The court has yet to respond to the producer's filing, which led Clarkson to file new documents on Monday.

What Does Kelly Clarkson's New Filing Say?

In the court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Clarkson's new filing served as a cross-complaint after Starstruck sued her for allegedly owing $1.4 million in commissions for her work on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" and "The Voice."

The "Because of You" hitmaker filed a petition with the California Labor Commission claiming Blackstock was never licensed to legally serve as a talent agent; thus, he should not have secured her gigs.

"Based on the wrongful acts and conduct of Starstruck, as alleged hereinabove, including the violations of Sections 1700, et seq. of the California Labor Code, the alleged Agreement, and all agreements between the parties, should be declared void and unenforceable, no monies should be paid by Cross-Complainants to Starstruck, and all monies previously paid by Cross-Complainants to Starstruck should be disgorged from Starstruck, forthwith," part of the filing read.

Clarkson alleged that her ex-husband defrauded her by overcharging her.

The California Labor Commission previously ruled in favor of Clarkson as Blackstock should not have had booked gigs without a talent agent license. As a result, he paid her $2.6 million in commissions.

"It is morally, ethically and legally wrong to attempt to get monies back from your ex-husband who not only helped her as her manager but who used those earnings on their children and Kelly and Brandon's lifestyle during the marriage," Blackstock's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, responded to Clarkson's filing in a statement to Rolling Stone.

With the cross-complaint, Clarkson aims to affirm the $2.6 million labor award she received.

Kelly Clarkson Feels Relieved After Major Update

Following Clarkson and Blackstock's divorce, the "Since U Been Gone" singer was ordered to pay him spousal support - which ended earlier this year.

"Kelly is feeling relieved that her spousal support to Brandon has come to an end," a source told Us Weekly. "She's been ready for this for a while now and is so happy her payments to Brandon will be complete. It's so nice knowing that this chapter of her life can close with the new year."

According to court documents, Clarkson agreed to pay her estranged partner spousal support worth $115,000 until January 2024 on top of the one-time $1.3 million fee.

Clarkson and Blackstock split in June 2020 and settled their divorce in March 2022.
